Situated throughout the CBD, housing multiple ERP platforms supporting over 75 applications, servicing a combined staff and students end user population group of over 70,000, we can offer you varied exposure within a large and complex technological environment.
Current Corporate systems include: SAP, Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft, Novell Netware, Novell GroupWise, Novell Internet Messaging and Sun Solaris Unix.
As part of this hands on and challenging position, your main focus will be to maximise the uptime, security and system performance of the High Performance Research Systems, Collaboration Tools and Mass Storage Systems. Reporting through to the eResearch Office Director and Unix Team Leader and as part of a dedicated eResearch support team your main responsibilities are to ensure high availability of HPC/Research systems and to provide system support for the systems managed by the group:
- Provide system support for Linux and MacOS HPC clusters and servers supporting the strongest University's research groups
- Maintain comprehensive data and detailed auditable records
- Liaise with service suppliers and clients, including other internal ITS branches
- Assist in the preparation, and execute where necessary, the disaster recovery plans for the Application servers, GRID and HPC systems managed by the team.
Essential to your application will be your ability to liaise, advise and consult to University clients and Portfolio Unix staff. We are looking for you to have strong, proven experience in Unix based HPC systems, able to demonstrate high level Unix troubleshooting skills. Your knowledge of current systems and methodologies, including management and understanding of Internet systems, Mass Storage Systems, and Security issues in a large corporate environment is shown in your background, ideally in a high-performance computing environ.
Able to work well both during ????? ????? pressure and in peaks and troughs, you thrive in an ever changing environment. Advantageous to your application is your report writing exposure in relation to systems issues and performance, ideally supported by a related IT certification or qualification.
