Cars are one of the basic investments most households work hard for. These are essential since it eases the burden of going on commutes to different locations such as the office or the mall. However, not everyone has the proper skills to command a vehicle. Thus, there are domestic services jobs that call for drivers. This profession is available for anyone who has the proper license mandated by the government. Drivers are usually paid at a low-level to mid-level salary. They may sometimes be provided by their own room within the household or they may also be "on call" for special occasions only.

Driver jobs are abundant in the market as some companies also have a special need for those in this profession. There are different types of drivers, each specializing in a type of vehicle. The first one is called the delivery drivers and they are mostly given cargo trucks. They can be found in freight and furniture companies. Another driver type is the bus and tram drivers. These people operate the automobiles used for commuting. Taxi drivers are also common and serve the people who are in a rush and can no longer wait for mass transit vehicles. Forklift and crane vehicles also require drivers for their operation.

The demands from a driver are not as heavy as compared to other domestic services jobs. However, they should be able to withstand long hours of sitting and waiting for further instructions from their employers. They should also have a good command of the road to avoid accidents. Patience is a main trait employers look for applicants of this profession as some drivers are hot-headed and often lead to trouble that cause further delay. Drivers must also have good logical thinking especially in situations where their employer requires them to meet an appointed time.
