Director of Early Learning (Aboriginal Identified Position)


Mt Druitt Aboriginal Child and Family Centre

An exciting opportunity exists for a degree qualified early childhood professional to work with Gowrie NSW to lead the early childhood programs of Yenu Allowah, an integrated Aboriginal Child and Family Centre providing a mix of services including early childhood programs, play groups and parent and family support. Gowrie NSW is currently responsible for management of the early childhood learning services and is working towards handing over to an Aboriginal management body in June 2014.

This position will lead a small team of educators to deliver supported playgroup sessions and early literacy programs and will play a significant role in the development, transition and relocation to a new purpose built, licensed early childhood service.

Candidates should have an understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards and be able to build and lead an enthusiastic team. Be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor Teaching (Early Childhood) or Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)
  • Current First Aid and Anaphylaxis and Asthma management training certificates
  • Experience working in a range of high quality children's services
  • Confident and knowledgeable about current early childhood pedagogy
  • Sound understanding of current Child Protection and Children’s Services legislation
  • Experience working with Aboriginal community organisations and people and ability to build relationships within the community
  • Current Driver Licence
  • As an identified position we are looking for a person who feels strong in their culture as this is a key knowledge you will bring ????? ????? role.

This position requires a Working-with-Children Check clearance.
